Ingrown Hair Treatment Options For Men And Women
Everyone, at some time or another, has suffered from ingrown hairs. One every now and then is not going to cause too much grief but if you have a serious condition you will need to find a good ingrown hair treatment. Ingrown hairs cause the skin to become seriously irritated. The skin becomes inflamed, red and a rash develops. You may even notice pus collecting under the skin if the hair follicle has become infected.
The best time to treat ingrown hairs is immediately after a bath or shower. The skin is still soft, pores are open and the hair is more likely to be closer to the surface. If you have not just stepped out of a bath or shower use a moist, warm cloth and hold it on the inflamed area for a few minutes.
Use a needle or tweezer that has been sterilized and carefully nudge the hair until it breaks through the skin. You should not have to cut the skin. If it does not come out then try these other treatment options.
The Causes And Prevention Of Ingrown Hair
When the hair curls around and the tip grows back into the skin this is called ingrown hair. Mostly this problem effects curly-haired men but it affects women also.
When shaving you should be careful not to shave too close as this can cause ingrown hair. Ingrown hair can also be caused by plucking, waxing, and tweezing. If you get a build up in your pores of oil and dead skin cells the skin can become irritated and cause ingrown hairs.
To prevent hair from becoming ingrown there are a few things you can do. Wash the area before shaving and apply skin cream or aftershave once you are done. If the hair grows out some you may be able to remove it with special tweezers. You have to be sure to remove the hair from the root.
When waxing you have to be careful of the hair breaking off because this can cause ingrown hair also. You should always pull the hair out from the root. Keeping your skin exfoliated and moisturized will also help to prevent ingrown hair. You may still experience ingrown hair from time to time if you use these methods but hopefully it will lessen the frequency.
